Job Description

Position Summary:

The Vertical Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment across all company operations at assigned vertical. This role serves as the key point of contact for all occupational health and safety matters and will work closely with leadership, site managers, and employees to foster a strong safety culture.

This position requires strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to influence safety practices across multiple teams and locations. This position will have a travel requirement of 25-50%.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate safety programs across all company sites to ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across locations to identify hazards and ensure best practices.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; lead root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop, organize, and deliver training programs and materials for employees, supervisors, and contractors on safety topics.
  • Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, maintaining accurate records and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Lead initiatives to improve safety culture, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for regulatory agencies during inspections, audits, or investigations.
  • Standardize and enforce safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices across all locations.
  • Administration of customer and regulatory safety portals and documents directly and/or using 3rd party services.
  • Primary administrator of Safety Management System (Intelex) to develop and deploy standards.
  • Understand, oversee, and communicate all DOT requirements developing a system to track records and compliance.
  • Stay current on industry trends, standards, and regulatory updates, ensuring proactive compliance.

Requirements

Education and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of safety management experience, preferably in a multi-site or regional role.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and general industry safety standards.
  • Experience developing and implementing safety programs and conducting audits.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and training facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
