Title : Manufacturing Engineer

Location : Lafayette, IN

Details : 12-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire

Pay Rate : $52.75 - $58.00/hr. with benefit inclusions

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Black Belt certified expert in machining operations and New Capital Introduction (NCI) projects. The ideal candidate will lead ongoing NCI machining assets projects, provide training support for technicians, assist with process documentation, and resolve tooling and fixturing issues.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ongoing NCI machining assets projects.
  • Experience with CNC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with machine rundown and setup.
  • Provide training support for technicians once the manufacturing process is in place.
  • Assist with process documentation for new processes and equipment.
  • Lead investigations to resolve tooling and fixturing issues.

Years of Experience and Education

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial).
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in relevant fields.

Skills Required

  • Black Belt certified.
  • CNC Operation – hands-on machine operation experience
  • CNC Programming experience and background
  • Teaching, training, mentoring, and coaching junior team members
  • Microsoft O365 for team communication and cross functional coordination
  • Project Management experience – preferably with new product introductions
  • Data Analysis for process optimization and waste reduction
  • Root Cause Analysis for deviation and defects – leading investigations to resolve tooling and fixturing issues
  • New capital introduction/new asset installation.

Soft Skills (Required)

  • Clear and fluent English with both oral and written communications.
  • Growth mindset, aggressive and outgoing to learn processes at Caterpillar.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Work with a sense of urgency but must be balanced with priorities given to Safety & Ergonomics as well as Quality.
