Salary: $83,100 - 185,000 per year Requirements:

• Technical training or degree in a relevant field such as electrical or mechanical engineering.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical or mechanical roles.
• At least 4 years of experience working in data centers or mission-critical facilities, such as hospitals, military installations, or public safety buildings.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary escalation contact for all facility-related concerns, overseeing the operation and management of routine and emergency services for critical systems including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, and building monitoring systems.
• Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and troubleshoot facilities within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and collaborate with the Facility Manager to cultivate team culture.
• Develop and implement new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
• Assist in the establishment of new facilities and contribute to projects aimed at enhancing current facility efficiency.
• Be available for routine maintenance outside of standard business hours as needed and respond to after-hours emergency calls.
• Translate complex technical information for a non-technical audience.
• Coordinate projects with IT managers and other business leaders to manage capacity and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures by both vendor and staff members.
• Set performance benchmarks for facilities, conduct analyses, and prepare reports regarding all aspects of critical facility operations and maintenance.
• Utilize basic administrative tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for daily tasks.

In this role, you will be on the front lines of Amazon’s operations, handling hands-on troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment. You will maintain, operate, and resolve issues with mission-critical data center facility equipment that supports servers requiring better than 99.999% uptime. The role encompasses a variety of equipment, including standby diesel generators, switchgear, UPS units, and numerous mechanical systems.

You will also direct and support technicians to enhance their troubleshooting and operational skills, leading training exercises specific to sites and equipment. Furthermore, you will manage projects from inception to completion, collaborating with external support teams in engineering, automation, and finance. Your tasks will involve creating and achieving key project milestones, obtaining and tracking cost estimates, and documenting outcomes for future application in other facilities.
