Job Description

This position offers an opportunity to support elementary students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing during the Extended School Year (ESY) program. The assignment is contracted from the start date as soon as possible through August 15, providing flexible scheduling to meet educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction and support for elementary students with hearing impairments.
• Collaborate with school staff and specialists to ensure effective communication and learning strategies.
• Adapt lessons and materials to meet individual student needs.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to appropriate team members.
• Manage owed hours by scheduling sessions flexibly within the contract period.

Qualifications:

• Certification or licensure to teach students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
• Experience working with elementary-aged children in this specialized setting.
• Ability to develop inclusive and accessible teaching materials.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation.
• Flexibility in scheduling, able to complete owed hours within the contract timeframe.

Location: Elementary school in Massapequa, NY.

Schedule and Contract Details:

• Contract from ASAP through August 15.
• Approximately 5 hours per week.
• 10 hours of owed time available to be made up at the teachers discretion.
• Scheduling is flexible; the teacher may choose which days to work within the contract period.

This role offers significant flexibility, allowing educators with expertise in Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction to contribute meaningfully over the summer ESY period. Candidates interested in supporting students success while managing their availability are encouraged to apply.
