Description

The Scale Operator is the initial customer contact and is responsible for delivering exceptional service including identifying potential long-term clients and developing relationships with vendors and drivers. This role is also responsible for accurately weighing incoming and outgoing materials. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and passionate about creating a positive customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers in a friendly, professional manner.
• Provide clear instructions and guidance on yard procedures and safety protocols.
• Operate digital scale to weigh vehicles and materials.
• Record weights, material types, and customer information accurately in the system.
• Issue scale tickets and ensure proper documentation for all transactions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and local/state regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in metal recycling preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, POS systems, etc.).
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust and varying temperatures.
• Requires standing for extended periods.
• Capable of lifting up to 50lbs occasionally.
• Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
