Job Description

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Renal Technician provides care in an outpatient setting to patients with End Stage Renal Disease. The role involves performing patient care and selected procedures that comply with all established standards and practices, as well as performing other related duties as needed, within the framework, training, and education provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care according to approved hospital policies and procedures.
  • Initiate and discontinue hemodialysis treatments with various access types.
  • Monitor patients during dialysis treatments, chart observations, observe patients for complications, and communicate appropriate information to nursing staff.
  • Perform routine disinfection and cleaning of hemodialysis equipment and satisfactorily maintain related records.
  • Administer dialysis medications according to established hospital procedures.
  • Access, input, and retrieve information from the information system.
  • Effectively operate and troubleshoot the water system, solution delivery, and the hemodialysis machine during treatments.
  • Prepare bicarbonate solution for distribution through the distribution system.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with dialysis and hemodialysis procedures.
  • Competency in operating crit-line and other dialysis-related technologies.
  • Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate Degree in Renal Technology or equivalent training and/or experience preferred.

Work Environment

The position operates in a large regional hospital system that is rapidly expanding. This is a fulltime permanent position. Day shift and varied shift options are available!

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38480.00 - $58240.00/yr.
