Marketing Manager - Sport Optics (Hunting/Outdoor)

Sport Optics Division

Leica Sport Optics is in search of a dedicated Marketing Manager for our Sport Optics Division, specializing in hunting and birding activities. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Marketing, the Marketing Manager will also collaborate with the Director of Sport Optics and coordinate with a network of national and international agencies and internal teams. This role includes supervision of one direct report.

Role Overview:

  • Oversee and execute the marketing strategy for US Sport Optics, covering both new and existing products.
  • Develop a comprehensive, multi-channel Marketing Plan, continually optimizing the Marketing Mix, including but not limited to social media, Influencer and Ambassador Programs, Digital and Print Advertising, Events, Trade Shows, Newsletter, PR, and Brand Partnerships.
  • Collaborate on marketing budget planning with the EVP of Marketing and the Director of Sport Optics Division, followed by the monitoring and analysis of budget expenditures.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to provide them with the necessary tools, materials, and presentations to achieve their commercial objectives.
  • Create and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Marketing activations.
  • Ensure a consistent corporate design and tonality across all channels and materials.
  • Manage external PR/Communication and Digital Agencies.
  • Collaborate with the HQ product management team to define marketing materials and programs.
  • Generate ideas for promotional events or activities and efficiently organize them.
  • Continuously analyze the competitive environment and consumer trends.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of the marketing staff.
  • Increase sales and profitability of Leica products within the assigned region and support Leica Sport Optics across all regions as needed.
  • Meet or exceed budgeted sales objectives.
  • Develop and execute a quarterly regional territory sales plan in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide sales reporting to communicate regional activities and relevant information to the sales team and upper management.
  • Assist with sales and budgetary forecasting as requested by management.
  • Support dealers in their retail operations by consulting on Leica products, inventory mix, merchandising, and in-store events.
  • Deliver Leica Sport Optics product training and education to dealers and their sales associates.
  • Maintain up-to-date dealer information in a CRM database.
  • Represent Leica in a professional and ethical manner, recognizing their role as the face of the organization in the marketplace.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in marketing and/or communications for a premium hunting, shooting, or outdoor brand.
  • Proficiency in Digital Marketing, including Google Analytics, AdWords, Social Media Strategy, CRM, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of events and media relevant to the premium hunting community.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in advertising, marketing, communications, business, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A confident, dynamic leader with an entrepreneurial mindset for identifying original branding opportunities.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective under pressure and skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and executing marketing, communications, and public relations activities.
  • Genuine passion for the Leica brand, the outdoors, and particularly hunting and shooting.
  • Proficient in creative, strategic, analytical, organizational, and personal sales skills.
  • Experience in budget development and management.
  • Capable of independent judgment and decision-making.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sets a professional example in behavior, attitude, and results at all times.
  • Proactive and takes initiative.
  • Highly self-motivated and energetic.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, or relevant prior experience.
  • 3 years of prior experience working with retailers in the outdoor industry.
  • Resides within the designated territory.
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time with 40% remote office-based work.
  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to influence outcomes by aligning Leica's programs and products with dealers' and consumers' needs.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive actionable insights from data.
  • Effective at conveying a clear message to a targeted audience through various media.
  • Adheres to directions and guidelines to complete projects within specified timeframes and parameters.
  • Maintains a positive and upbeat personality, always seeking the positives in situations.

Compensation: 65k-70k Annually
