Job Summary:

B&A is looking for a cloud developer engineer to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Cloud Security Engineer to support the implementation and maintenance of secure cloud environments. This role is ideal for someone early in their cybersecurity career who is passionate about cloud technologies and eager to grow their skills in a dynamic and collaborative environment. You will assist in identifying security risks, monitoring cloud infrastructure, and supporting compliance efforts under the guidance of senior team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in configuring and maintaining security controls across cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Support identity and access management (IAM) implementation and monitoring.
  • Participate in security incident detection and response activities for cloud infrastructure.
  • Help monitor cloud environments using security tools (e.g., SIEM, CSPM, CloudTrail, Azure Monitor).
  • Conduct basic vulnerability scanning and assist in remediation efforts.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to ensure secure coding and deployment practices.
  • Assist in documenting cloud security policies, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Stay current on emerging threats and trends in cloud security through continuous learning and training.
  • Contribute to compliance activities and audits by gathering evidence and documenting processes.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–3 years of experience in IT or cybersecurity (internships, co-ops, or academic projects are acceptable).

Required Skills:

  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity fundamentals such as IAM, encryption, firewalls, and network security.
  • Exposure to scripting or automation (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with a cloud platform (via labs, coursework, internships, or certifications).
  • Familiarity with security tools such as Nessus, Splunk, GuardDuty, Azure Defender, or similar.
  • Basic knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001).

Security Clearance:

  • Active Top Secret / SCI clearance.
