Painters are responsible for applying high-quality industrial coatings to various surfaces, ensuring durability, appearance, and compliance with company standards. This includes surface preparation, priming, and painting while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment. The role requires a strong focus on precision, efficiency, and continuous improvement to support production goals and deliver consistent product quality. Responsibilities Surface Preparation: Clean, sand, and prime surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion. Paint Application: Apply coatings using spray equipment, rollers or brushes while maintaining consistency and quality. Color Matching: Mix and match paints to meet specifications and ensure uniformity. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain painting tools and equipment for optimal performance. Safety Compliance: Follow OSHA and company safety guidelines, including proper ventilation and handling of hazardous materials. Quality Control: Inspect finished work to ensure adherence to company standards and customer expectations. Detect and report defective materials. Inventory Management: Keep track of paint supplies and request replenishments as needed. Collaboration: Work with other departments to ensure timely completion of projects. Personal Characteristics Required to read, write and comprehend English Ability to work from schedules, specifications, instructions, shop orders Self-motivated Able to work individually or as part of a team Safety-minded Strong work ethic/reliable Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED Required Minimum of 2+ years experience of finish painting, sanding, and masking methods and techniques, test procedures, and equipment maintenance Knowledge of safe working practices in a manufacturing environment Able to use and comprehend specifications, blueprints, and schematics Knowledge of mechanical components/systems Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Knowledge of safe rig operation Must be able to use gauges, measuring devices Requires the use of judgment to apply finish coat(s) and trim to finished drilling rigs. Must know how to plan work sequences, apply colors, carry out prescribed tests, adjust, diagnose and correct faulty operations. Required Physical Effort To promote wellness, ergonomic equipment, and regular breaks are encouraged. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required while on the production floor or testing area. PPE includes Hard Hat or Bump Cap, Safety Glasses & Steel Toe Shoes. Reasonable accommodations are available to support individuals with disabilities in fulfilling the role's essential functions. Exposure to various degrees of heat, dust, dirt, moisture, fumes and other elements. Indoor/outdoor working environment including exposure to extreme hot and cold weather as well as rain. Work may also involve climbing up to 4-6 feet using ladders and crawling underneath rigs. May also be required to lift up to 30 lbs. Moderate physical demand in handling spray guns, painting in all rig areas. Equivalent to frequently exerting average effort; some climbing and strained work positions.
