Description:

Groundskeeper Mechanic reports to and takes direction from the Grounds Supervisor. Responsible for cleanliness and maintaining grounds and landscapes, as well as maintenance and repair of grounds equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1.Perform mowing, trimming, pruning, watering, and spray operations of grass, flowerbeds, trees, and shrubs at all properties managed by the Building Authority.2.Assist in planting annual flowers, trees, and shrubs. Spread mulch in and around all beds.3.Responsible for maintenance and repair of small engines, both gas and diesel, includes: Bobcat, Kubota, John Deere, Mini Trucks, Stihl, Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Tecumseh and Honda equipment. Sharpening all types of mower blades and chainsaw chains.4.Assist in snow removal, ice removal, and salt spreading, parking lot and walkways5.Assist with irrigation system maintenance.6.Performs preventative maintenance work, such as checking oil and fluid levels on all equipment. Upkeep and maintenance of lawn care and snow removal equipment. Maintain equipment inventory and maintenance records.7.Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment with accuracy and speed. Able to explain repair procedures to the BA Staff and document the maintenance or repair.8.Comply with EPA chemical application regulations and Building Authority’s policies procedures and safety regulations. (All regulations will be shared during orientation and onboarding) (Mobile + CJC)9.Driving to different properties that are managed by the Building Authority, with lawn care equipment in tow. (Mobile)10.Perform Maintenance as well as Preventative Maintenance on the (Canal Walk) pumps and fountains (Canal + CCB)11.Use a wetsuit to enter and work in water up to 5 feet deep (Canal)12.Remove graffiti/counteract vandalism, including removing items from Canal waters.(Canal)13.Perform all other duties as assigned by Grounds Supervisor.

Equipment used:

The Groundskeeper should be familiar with various equipment and tools including lawncare equipment, pesticides, PPE safety equipment, mowers, and trimmers.

Ability to work well with others, including other employees, Grounds Supervisors, outside vendors, contractors, and customers.

•Ability to work a flexible schedule (snow removal, vehicle breakdown)

•Valid Indiana State Driver’s license

•3 Years of Landscaping knowledge and prior experience

•Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently

•Ability to lift 50 (fifty) pounds

•Ability to swim (Canal)

•Ability to perform basic Maintenance Equipment Repair

•Familiarity with CMMS Software/Computers
