Director of Facilities – Healthcare Facilities Operations

AP Executive Staffing is recruiting on behalf of our healthcare client for an experienced Director of Facilities to oversee facilities operations across multiple facilities and locations. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity for a seasoned facilities professional who thrives in regulated healthcare environments and is passionate about maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable physical spaces that support exceptional patient care. This role offers the chance to shape policy, optimize operations, and lead capital planning efforts within one of the region’s top healthcare systems.

Salary Range: $120,000-160,000/year (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct all maintenance, repair, and construction activities for healthcare facilities and grounds.
• Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets; track variances and lead corrective planning.
• Ensure continuous compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., CMS, NYSDOH, DNV, OSHA, EPA, NFPA).
• Lead the development of emergency response plans for utility system failures.
• Implement policies and procedures to promote safety, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
• Audit systems and facilities for performance and compliance; create quality improvement plans based on findings.
• Identify and implement energy-saving and sustainability initiatives.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to align facility operations with organizational goals.
• Oversee and optimize staffing, training, and departmental structure.
• Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and inclusivity.
• Managing vendor performance and service contracts.
• Supporting departments with facility-related needs.
• Participating in committees and cross-functional initiatives.
• Remaining on-call 24/7 for system failures or urgent facility matters.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Facilities Management highly preferred.
• 5+ years of plant operations leadership in a healthcare setting (10 years if no bachelor's degree).
• Chief Stationary Engineer license (City of Buffalo) preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
• Proven experience with regulatory bodies and healthcare compliance standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and process improvement skills.
