Responsibilities:

• Supervising inmates: Monitoring inmate activities, ensuring compliance with facility rules, and preventing disturbances, assaults, and escapes.
• Maintaining order: Enforcing rules and regulations, conducting regular patrols, and managing inmate movement within the facility.
• Conducting searches: Regularly searching inmates, cells, and common areas for contraband like weapons, drugs, and other unauthorized items.
• Controlling contraband: Identifying and confiscating any prohibited items that could pose a security risk.
• Emergency response: Responding to emergencies such as fights, medical incidents, or escape attempts, taking appropriate action to restore order and ensure safety.
• Maintaining security: Ensuring the physical security of the facility, including monitoring surveillance systems, inspecting doors and windows, and maintaining proper documentation.
• Escorting inmates: Transporting inmates to court, medical appointments, or other locations, ensuring they are secured during transit

• At time of appointment, applicants must not have reached their 37th birthday unless they previously served in a Federal civilian law enforcement position covered by special civil service retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Qualified Preference Eligible Veterans may be exempt from meeting the maximum entry age of 37.
• To be considered at the GS-05 level, requires successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR You must have at least 3 years of full-time general experience, one of which is equivalent to the GS-04 grade level, or one year of specialized experience.

Tips for Success:

• Arrive anytime between 10 AM and 12:30 PM—Plan to spend 45 minutes to 1 hour at the event.
