Amtrak seeks a construction, public procurement, and general corporate lawyer with expertise in drafting and negotiating construction agreements, managing large-scale procurement processes, and handling corporate matters such as infrastructure projects, real estate, and insurance.

The successful candidate will provide legal support for infrastructure and engineering projects, real estate developments, and corporate issues, including compliance with federal and state regulations, grant agreements, and stakeholder needs. Responsibilities include contract administration, litigation, advice, and claims resolution over several years.

Essential Functions

  • Provide legal counsel on complex construction, engineering, and real estate projects.
  • Advise on insurance, finance, and treasury matters.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.
  • Coordinate with clients and legal teams to ensure effective operations.
  • Identify legal issues and interpret laws and regulations.
  • Oversee outside counsel and manage legal resources effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and current good standing in a state.
  • Legal experience in construction law within a corporate, government, or law firm setting.
  • Knowledge of governmental contracting at the state or federal level.
  • Strong legal writing, judgment, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a heavy, varied workload independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant legal experience.
  • Experience with construction law, government contracts, real estate, and related legal areas.

Additional Details

Location: Philadelphia, PA or Washington, DC (4 days in office)

Salary Range: $163,000 - $211,140, plus benefits and potential incentives.

Travel: Up to 25%.
