Job Description
Collin County is seeking an exceptional candidate for an Assistant Law Librarian. The Assistant Law Librarian serves as reference librarian by directing patrons to information and providing assistance with the use of library resources in person, by phone and via e-mail. Under the direction of the Law Librarian, the Assistant Law Librarian also conducts legal research for county personnel and attorneys by using print and computer assisted resources, and assists with administrative and library duties by maintaining forms and research files, preparing correspondence, and creating the quarterly library newsletter. Performs other duties as assigned.
Candidates must possess the knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. The position requires a broad knowledge of legal resources and reference services, normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree. A Master of Library Science/Information Science degree is preferred with an emphasis in law librarianship highly desirable. One-year experience using both traditional and electronic legal resources and databases is preferred. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
