Overview

The Industrial Controls Panel Shop Technician will assemble, and test control panels based on provided drawings. The Panel Shop Technician is also responsible for safety and quality and the care of all M.C. Dean, Inc. provided shop tools, meters, and other associated equipment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Interpret electrical control panel drawings, to lay out panel components, cut, strip and terminate wire. and test connections.
• Competency with standard shop tools: screw drivers, measuring tape, drills & taps, wire strippers, soldering iron, multi-meter.
• Ability to recognize wire sizes and colors and install according to provided drawings.
• Identify quality or constructability concerns to Shop Foreman and/or Shop Engineer.
• Ability to read a BOM (Bill of Materials)
• Identify material shortages and notify supervision before it impacts the build schedule.
• Keep workstation clean and orderly throughout the build process.
• Understand and observe Safety practices and procedures.

Use of Tools:
• Light power tools including drills, saws, punch sets (electric, hand operated and hydraulic),
• Corded and cordless drills
• Fluke 87 Multimeter or equivalent
• Fluke 787 Process Meter (desired)
• Calibrated torque screw drivers and wrenches

Other Desired Skills:
• Ability to arrive at scheduled start time.
• Reliable transportation to and from manufacturing location.
• Comfortable working as part of a team and in a shared-tools environment.
• Willingness to learn new skills.

Qualifications

1+ Years of Experience

Prior experience as a Control Panel Fabrication Technician is desired but not required.

Formal Education

The incumbent must have a high school degree or GED.Certifications:
• Obtain. at the Company's expense, a CPR/First Aid certification within six (6) months of hire and maintain this certification status while employed by M.C. Dean, Inc.
• Pass a background investigation and drug test.

Previous Work Experience:
• Reading and understanding control circuit diagrams, schematics. drawings, and line diagrams.
• Measuring, stripping, crimping wire.
• Ability to take instructions and follow directions.
• Desire and motivation to produce good work
• Factory, fabrication. or assembly plant work, or equivalent knowledge of manufacturing environments. 0 Apprentice/Journeyman Electrician (desired).

  • The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.

  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.

  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.

  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.

  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
