Alfonso Gutiérrez is a News Anchor for Noticiero Telemundo Chicago, Monday through Friday at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Telemundo Chicago.
Gutiérrez is also a bilingual journalist who presents stories, reports and special coverage for NBC Chicago, such as the last Mexican elections where he covered this important event in both languages.
Gutiérrez joined Telemundo Chicago in 2003 when he began working in the creative services department as a student.
Before joining Telemundo Chicago, Gutiérrez worked as a news reporter and anchor of Telemundo 25 Denver/KDEN’s morning news breaks in 2006. He also worked as a producer and host of a radio show on station 89.3 FM-WHFR, in Detroit, Michigan, the only Spanish-language radio program in the local area at the time.
Gutiérrez has received 6 Emmy Awards and more than 20 nominations thanks to his journalistic work carried out in a series of special investigations for Telemundo Chicago. In addition, he was nominated for the GLAAD Awards for the special program “Celebrando el Orgullo” where he was host and producer.
Gutiérrez began his college career at Henry Ford College in Michigan and earned his bachelor’s degree in Film and Video Production at Columbia College Chicago.
Originally from San Ignacio Cerro Gordo, Jalisco, Mexico, Gutiérrez advocates for the success of young students, inspiring them to become future leaders.
For several years, Gutiérrez has supported The Necahual Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to help children and young people who are in vulnerable situations and need education and cultural resources.
